JobNimbus answering service — every call becomes a contact, task, and job

Justin McKelvey
Justin McKelvey Founder of Local Call AI. Built it after watching friends in the trades lose thousands of dollars to missed calls.

In short

Local Call AI answers your calls 24/7 and writes the result into JobNimbus automatically: it finds or creates the contact, logs a follow-up task for your team, and opens a job named the way your crew already names them. Built and running live for roofing contractors on JobNimbus. Plans start at $297/month; the JobNimbus integration is included from the Connected plan ($497/month).

Why JobNimbus contractors lose jobs at the phone

JobNimbus is the system of record for a lot of roofing and exterior contractors — the board where every lead, job, and estimate lives. But nothing reaches that board until somebody answers the phone and types it in.

That's the leak. A homeowner calls after a storm while your crews are on roofs, gets voicemail, and calls the next contractor. The job never becomes a contact in JobNimbus, so it never shows up in your pipeline, and you never even know it existed. Roughly 85% of callers who reach voicemail don't leave a message, and our missed-call research puts a single missed roofing call in the hundreds-to-thousands of dollars.

What the integration actually does

When a call comes in, the AI answers, qualifies the caller, and then writes to JobNimbus without anyone touching a keyboard:

  • Finds or creates the contact. It searches your existing JobNimbus contacts by mobile, home, and work phone plus email before creating anything, so a repeat customer updates the record you already have instead of spawning a duplicate.
  • Logs a follow-up task. Your team gets a dated task with the caller's details and what they said, so the call lands in someone's queue rather than an inbox.
  • Opens the job. The job is created and named the way your crew already names jobs — by property address — so the board reads the way it always has.
  • Tags the source. New contacts carry the lead source you specify, so you can see exactly how much pipeline the answering service is producing inside your own reporting.
  • Keeps the transcript. The full call recording and transcript stay in your Local Call AI portal, so when a detail is disputed you have the actual words.

This is a live integration running for roofing contractors today, not a roadmap item.

What you still control

Job creation is configurable — some contractors want a job opened on every qualified call, others only want the contact and task until a human has vetted it. Both are supported. Lead source, task wording, and job naming all follow your setup, because a board that suddenly reads differently is a board your crew stops trusting.

Why an AI answering service instead of a call center

A traditional answering service takes a message and emails it over; somebody on your team still retypes it into JobNimbus, usually the next morning, sometimes never. Every step between the call and the board is a place jobs go missing.

The other practical difference is storm days. When a hailstorm lights up your phone, a live service with three agents on shift puts caller four on hold. The AI answers every call at once — which is the difference between capturing a storm and watching it go to the competitor who picked up.

Getting set up

Setup takes an API key from your JobNimbus account and a short call to map your lead source, task defaults, and job naming. One important detail we learned the hard way: the JobNimbus API key must be created with an Admin access profile. A Sales-profile key can create records but can't read your existing contacts, which silently breaks duplicate matching — every repeat customer becomes a new contact.

The integration is included from the Connected plan ($497/month). If you're on roofing specifically, the roofing answering service page covers how the AI handles storm-damage intake, insurance questions, and inspection scheduling.

Frequently asked questions

Does Local Call AI integrate with JobNimbus?
Yes — it's a live, built integration. On each qualified call the AI finds or creates the JobNimbus contact, logs a follow-up task with the caller's details, and opens a job named by property address. It's running for roofing contractors today.
Will it create duplicate contacts for repeat customers?
No. Before creating anything it searches your existing JobNimbus contacts by mobile, home, and work phone plus email. A repeat caller updates the record you already have. This does require an Admin-profile API key — a Sales-profile key can write records but can't read existing ones, which breaks matching.
Can I stop it from creating a job on every call?
Yes. Job creation is configurable. Some contractors want a job opened on every qualified call; others want only the contact and task until a human has vetted the lead. Both are supported.
How are jobs named?
By property address, matching how most roofing crews already name jobs on the board. Naming follows your setup so the board reads the way your team expects.
Can I tell how much pipeline the answering service produced?
Yes — new contacts carry the lead source you specify, so you can filter and report on answering-service leads inside JobNimbus using your existing reporting.
What does the JobNimbus integration cost?
Plans start at $297/month with 250 minutes included. CRM integrations, including JobNimbus, are included from the Connected plan at $497/month with 500 minutes. Overage is $0.35/minute on both.
What happens to the call recording?
The full recording and transcript stay in your Local Call AI portal alongside the call summary, so if a detail is ever disputed you have the caller's actual words.
