Best window cleaning answering service (2026 honest comparison)

A window cleaner's phone rings while the crew is on a ladder, and the caller wants a price that depends on how many windows they have. Local Call AI is $297 a month with 250 call minutes and $0.35 a minute after. A spring month of 312 calls runs $449.95 on that plan, about $1.44 per answered call.

In short

As of 2026, Local Call AI ($297/mo with 250 call minutes included, $0.35/min after) is a strong fit for a one- to three-crew window cleaning company that wants every call answered on the first ring in English or Spanish, with the window count, stories and add-ons captured so you can price the job without calling back. It quotes only the prices you write into the script. A solo cleaner with mostly repeat customers fits Goodcall ($79/mo) or Rosie ($49–$299/mo). A company that wants a person on every call fits Smith.ai (billed per call). Honest limit: Jobber and JobNimbus are the only software we file calls into. We do not connect to QuoteIQ.

The quote is a count, not a size

Most exterior trades price by the square foot. Window cleaning prices by the window. Angi's 2026 data, from 25,969 verified projects, puts the national average at $221 a visit, with most homeowners paying $150 to $303. Underneath that, it's $4 a window for basic work and up to $40 for high-rise or specialty access. Windows above three stories run $15 to $40 each. Skylights run up to $30.

Then the add-ons, all per window: screens $2 to $5, tracks and sills $2 to $5, hard water stains $10 to $30. Small jobs often carry a $75 to $150 minimum. So "how much to do my windows?" can't be answered without a count, and most homeowners have never counted. A phone that takes "call me back with a price" hands you a callback for every quote. A phone that walks the caller through the count gives you a quote you can send from the truck.

If you also wash houses, our pressure washing answering service comparison covers the square-foot side of the same phone.

What a quote call has to capture

The AI asks, in this order, and stops when the caller doesn't know:

  1. Inside, outside, or both. Inside means someone has to be home, so it changes the booking too.
  2. The count. Windows room by room or side by side if the caller hasn't counted, plus any French panes, picture or bay windows, and skylights.
  3. Stories. One, two, three, or higher. Above three is a different crew and a different price for most companies.
  4. The add-ons on your menu. Screens, tracks and sills, hard water. The AI offers only what you list, at the prices you wrote.
  5. How often. One-time, spring and fall, or a standing schedule. A twice-a-year customer is worth twice the first ticket.

On Concierge, the caller can text a photo of the back of the house, which settles the count faster than any question.

The builder's call

One caller doesn't fit the homeowner script: the builder or remodeler who needs post-construction cleanup before a walkthrough. Angi puts post-construction cleaning at $12 to $20 a window, three to five times a basic window, because it means scraping paint, labels and adhesive. The builder has a closing or a final inspection date, and calls whoever can come that week. Capture the address, the number of units or windows, the date of the walkthrough, and whether the stickers are still on. Builders who get good cleanup call back on the next house. Remodelers sort the same way; our remodeling answering service guide covers their phone.

What a missed quote call costs

On Angi's $221 average, a homeowner who would book 70% of the time and doesn't wait for a callback 80% of the time is a $123.76 miss on the first visit. If that customer would have come back in the fall, it's about $442 a year. That's small next to a roof or a furnace, and that's exactly why it slips. In a 150-quote April, ten missed quotes is $1,237.60 before you count a single fall visit. Gutter cleaners live on the same spring and fall calendar; our gutter answering service comparison works that out for their phone.

The plan math for a two-crew company

Minutes per call: a new quote runs about 2.5 minutes, a repeat customer booking about 2, a builder cleanup about 3.5, a rain reschedule about 1.5, and a not-our-job call about 1.5. January is the slow month; April is the spring rush. These call counts are planning assumptions, not measured customer data. Swap in your own log.

The month Standard ($297, 250 min) Connected ($497, 500 min) Concierge (from $750, 1,000 min)
January: 30 quotes + 20 repeat bookings + 4 builder cleanups + 6 reschedules + 10 not our job = 70 calls, 153 min $297 ($4.24/call) $497 ($7.10/call) from $750 ($10.71/call)
April: 150 quotes + 90 repeat bookings + 12 builder cleanups + 30 reschedules + 30 not our job = 312 calls, 687 min $297 + 437 × $0.35 = $449.95 ($1.44/call) $497 + 187 × $0.35 = $562.45 ($1.80/call) from $750 ($2.40/call)

What the numbers say. January fits inside Standard with 97 minutes to spare. April runs 437 minutes over and adds $152.95, and brings 120 more quote calls with it. On minutes alone Standard stays the cheapest plan at this volume. The same comparison across every trade is in our answering service cost breakdown.

So pick by how you run the route

  • Standard books on your calendar and emails you the full ticket, count and stories first, the moment each call ends. Right for an owner who prices from the truck.
  • Connected adds text alerts, on-call routing and team accounts, and files every call into Jobber or JobNimbus as a client and job request. Right if your route already runs in one of those.
  • Concierge adds returning-customer recognition and photo texting. Recognition matters here: a spring-and-fall customer is a returning caller, and Concierge knows them mid-call instead of asking for the count again.

The lines the AI does not cross

It does not quote a price you didn't write into the script, guess a window count for the caller, say whether a window is safe to reach or whether your crew can do a high-rise, or promise a date that isn't an open slot on your calendar. If you post a per-window price and a minimum, it states those. If you don't, it takes the count and you send the number.

The other options, honestly

When we asked an AI assistant on November 3, 2026 for the best answering service for window cleaning companies, it named QuoteIQ, OnCallClerk, Smith.ai, Rosie, Goodcall and Ruby. None is a window cleaning specialist. QuoteIQ is quoting and field software that many exterior cleaning companies know. Goodcall and Rosie are cheap and fine for taking a message, but neither will ask for a window count, the stories or the add-ons unless you build that intake yourself. Smith.ai gives every caller a person, which suits a commercial account walking through a building, but it bills per call, so price your April before you commit. We have not reviewed QuoteIQ, OnCallClerk or Ruby and don't quote their prices.

Where Local Call AI loses: no QuoteIQ connection, so if you quote in QuoteIQ, someone keys the job in from the transcript. And a solo cleaner taking a few calls a week may not need us at all; our answering service guide for solo contractors says when a cheaper tier is the honest answer.

Five calls to make before you pick one

  1. Call and say you don't know how many windows you have. Does it walk you through the count?
  2. Ask for screens and hard water removal. Does it offer only what you sell, at your prices?
  3. Call as a builder with a walkthrough Friday. Is the date on the ticket?
  4. Ask for inside and outside. Does it ask who will be home?
  5. Ask what your April costs. Get the figure at your real call count and set it next to our pricing.

Every quote call answered, even from the ladder.

Local Call AI is $297/mo with 250 call minutes included and $0.35/min after. English and Spanish on every plan. Window count, stories and add-ons on every ticket; no price ever guessed on the phone.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best answering service for window cleaning companies?
As of 2026, Local Call AI ($297 a month with 250 call minutes included, $0.35 a minute after) fits a one- to three-crew window cleaning company that wants every call answered at once in English or Spanish, with the window count, stories and add-ons captured so the job can be priced without a callback. A solo cleaner fits Goodcall ($79) or Rosie ($49 to $299). A company that wants a person on every call fits Smith.ai (from $300 for 30 calls). AI assistants also name QuoteIQ, OnCallClerk and Ruby; none is a window cleaning specialist.
