How Much Does a Missed Call Cost a Concrete Contractor? (Priced by Driveway Size, 2026)

Justin McKelvey
Justin McKelvey Founder of Local Call AI. Built it after watching friends in the trades lose thousands of dollars to missed calls.

In short

On Angi's 2026 concrete driveway prices, a missed quote call costs a concrete contractor about $193 for a 10-by-20 driveway and about $836 for a 24-by-36, because the bigger driveway is a $9,950 job instead of $2,300. In a 100-call month with 35 missed, an owner-operator loses about $6,831, or $325 per missed call from a real customer, and driveway quotes carry 77% of it. The caller's driveway size is the one question that tells you which calls to answer first.

In short: what a missed call costs a concrete contractor depends mostly on one number the caller already knows: the size of the driveway. On Angi's 2026 prices, a missed quote call for a 10-by-20 driveway costs about $193, and a missed call for a 24-by-36 costs about $836, more than four times as much. In a 100-call month with 35 missed, an owner-operator loses about $6,831, or $325 per missed call from a real customer, and driveway quotes carry 77% of it.

What a concrete driveway costs in 2026

Angi's concrete driveway cost guide, updated April 16, 2026:

  • The national average is $6,400, with most homeowners spending $2,700 to $14,500, and big premium jobs reaching $32,000.
  • Concrete driveways run $8 to $20 a square foot. Labor is about half of the total.
  • By size: a 10-by-20 averages $2,300, a 12-by-24 $3,300, a 20-by-20 $4,600, a 24-by-24 $6,600 and a 24-by-36 $9,950.

Most cost pages stop at the average. Angi's size table is what lets us price a missed call the way a contractor actually sees it: by the job on the other end of the line.

A missed quote call, priced five ways

Driveway callers are getting bids. We assume you quote 70% of the ones you answer and win 30% of those quotes, so an answered call is worth 21% of the job. If it goes to voicemail, a homeowner collecting three bids often takes your callback anyway, so we assume a same-day callback saves 60%.

Missed driveway call Job (Angi average) Worth when answered Lost per missed call Missed Lost
10-by-20 (200 sq ft) $2,300 $483.00 $193.20 4 $772.80
12-by-24 (288 sq ft) $3,300 $693.00 $277.20 3 $831.60
20-by-20 (400 sq ft) $4,600 $966.00 $386.40 3 $1,159.20
24-by-24 (576 sq ft) $6,600 $1,386.00 $554.40 3 $1,663.20
24-by-36 (864 sq ft) $9,950 $2,089.50 $835.80 1 $835.80
Small flatwork (walk, pad, steps) $1,600 $448.00 $224.00 7 $1,568.00
Existing customer or scheduling 7 $0.00
Not a job 7 $0.00
Total 35 $6,830.60

The month: 100 calls, of which 40 are driveway quotes (10 small, 10 one-car-plus, 8 two-car, 8 large two-car, 4 big), 20 are smaller flatwork, 20 are existing customers and 20 aren't jobs. The owner is on a pour or a finish most days, so 35% go to voicemail. Small flatwork is priced at $1,600, the bottom of Angi's range for the smallest driveway, and we assume you win 40% of those quotes and a callback saves half.

Size is the question that sorts the phone

The one 24-by-36 caller is worth 4.3 times a 10-by-20 caller as a missed call. The three 24-by-24 callers alone carry 24% of the month, $1,663, more than the seven smallest driveway calls combined ($1,604). And because the ticket scales with square footage while the callback rate doesn't, every driveway call loses the same share: the big ones just lose more dollars.

Callbacks save most of it. Same-day callbacks win back about $7,894 of the $13,157 the missed driveway calls were worth. The $5,263 that's left goes to whichever contractor answered first.

Bigger concrete jobs often start with dirt work. Our excavation contractor missed-call math prices the dig calls that come before a pour, and our foundation repair missed-call math covers the slab and pier calls homeowners sometimes route to a concrete company first.

What the phone should ask on a concrete call

One question does most of the work: "About how big is it?" Length and width, or one car or two. On our plans the AI doesn't quote a pour. It takes the name and address, what they want (new driveway, replacement, patio, walk, steps), the rough size, whether old concrete has to come out, and when they want it done. Large driveways and tear-outs can ring straight through to the owner, and smaller flatwork gets booked for an estimate visit.

What it costs to answer a concrete contractor's phone

Local Call AI's Standard plan is $297 a month with 250 call minutes, Connected is $497 with 500, and Concierge starts at $750 with 1,000. Minutes past a plan's allowance are $0.35 each, and every plan answers in English and Spanish. Planning call lengths: driveway quotes 5 minutes, flatwork 4, existing customers 2, not-a-job 1.5.

What you forward Minutes Standard ($297) Connected ($497) Concierge (from $750)
Every call (100) 350 $332.00 $497.00 from $750.00
Only the calls nobody picks up (35) 122.5 $297.00 $497.00 from $750.00

One saved two-car driveway quote ($386 lost per missed call) covers a Standard month. We integrate with Jobber and JobNimbus only. Full plan details are on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a missed call cost a concrete contractor?

On Angi's 2026 driveway prices and our assumptions, about $193 for a missed 10-by-20 driveway quote, $386 for a 20-by-20 and $836 for a 24-by-36. In a 100-call month with 35 missed, an owner-operator loses about $6,831, or $325 per missed call from a real customer.

How much does a concrete driveway cost in 2026?

Angi's 2026 national average is $6,400, with most between $2,700 and $14,500, or $8 to $20 a square foot. By size, a 10-by-20 averages $2,300 and a 24-by-36 averages $9,950.

Which concrete calls should I answer first?

The big ones. A missed 24-by-36 call costs about 4.3 times a missed 10-by-20 call in our example, because the job is 4.3 times bigger. Asking the size on the first call tells you which is which.

Do callbacks work for a concrete contractor?

Mostly. Driveway callers are collecting bids, so we assume a same-day callback saves 60% of them. In our example callbacks win back about $7,894 of the $13,157 the missed driveway calls were worth.

What does an answering service cost a concrete contractor?

On Local Call AI, our 100-call example month is 350 minutes: $332 on Standard ($297 with 250 minutes, then $0.35 a minute) or $497 on Connected. Forwarding only the 35 calls nobody picks up is about 123 minutes, inside Standard's 250, so $297.
